Contents Page Analysis

This magazine appears to be targeting younger people, at about 16 – 25. This is because it has a boyband in it, this does not appeal to older people.

This magazine appeals to drummers because it has a big masthead ‘Drummer’ it also has three pictures of drums on their own or being played.

The three colours that used, red, black and white, are used in way which gives a dangerous atmosphere. This is often associated with dark rock culture.

The masthead ‘Drummer’ instantly appeals to people who play this instrument. This is because no one enjoys drumming without any other instrument playing, apart from drummers.

This magazine targets both male and female, this is because although it has a dark picture of a drummer which is meant to target male, it also has nice bright colours on the right bottom picture. That picture also has a boyband. This is usually what would appeal to a female audience.

It has the regulars of this magazine in the corner.

The magazine displays a rock/indie music genre.

There is a small front cover of a drummer (thumbnail).

Target Audience Mood Board

My magazine will be aimed at everyone really, hence the ‘pop’ part of my magazine. But it will be more aimed at teenagers because they are the ones that are into more of them things on the magazine. Older people might be too intellectual for a pop magazine but Pop magazines are the sort of things that a young adult would be into

Advertisers Mood Board

I think that these companies would want to be advertised in my magazine because it is a Pop magazine, so its aim is to appeal to everyone. Just like these companies, they have the same target audience as my magazine and therefore the people that look at the magazine are the people that these companies want.

Fonts Mood Board

ARIAL BLACK
ARIAL ROUNDED MT BOLD
TIMES NEW ROMAN
ALGERIAN
Broadway
Bauhaus 93
Elephant
Wide Latin
Tahoma
Baskerville Old Face

These are the options I have chosen for my fonts, I will could potentially use any one of these or all of these. I think that these fonts suit a Pop magazine because they are easy to read and very noticeable. Times New Roman and Baskerville are commonly used because they very simple and clear, which is why I have chosen to use them. Arial Black and Arial Rounded are very bold and catch the eyes of the reader, I will use them for headlines and subheadings, or any important other things that I think are important for the viewer to read. Broadway, Bauhaus, Elephant and Tahoma are there to make the magazine more interesting and unusual than other magazines.

Colours Mood board

These are the main colours that I will use; this is because these colours are commonly used in other magazines. Red is used to symbolise happiness and energy, and I would like my magazine to be full of energy and happiness. Blue is usually an attractive colour, I will used this colour to make things more appeasing to the reader, things that I rather the viewer to find glamorous. Black is to make things bold and standing out, so if it’s something that I want the reader to view immediately then I will use the colour black to make it stick out to them.

Contents page analysis 2

This is aimed at 14 – 25 years of age. This is because it displays teenage audience qualities.

This magazine mentions metal music musicians which suggest that his is a metal magazine.

This is aimed a teenage audience, I know this because of the violence displayed in this magazine. Also it has a Metallica reference on the top. Metallica is a metal band. Metal is usually aimed at a teenage audience.

This magazine has an editor note at the top.

The violent images used give us evidence that this is a metal magazine e.g. the person holding guns on the top left image.

The light colours are used tell that violence is used naturally in metal type magazines.

There is a quote at the top by a member of the band ‘Metallica.’
